General Information

What:  Sacred Heart Parish facilitates catechesis and formation of adults seeking Christian baptism and entry into the Roman Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Ending:  March 21, 2023
When:  7:00 PM - 8:30 PM 
Where: Rectory 
Who:  Those seeking to become baptized ("catechumens") and those baptized (Catholic or Protestant) who are seeking to complete their Catholic Sacraments ("candidates")

Leadership:  The RCIA program is administered under the direction of Deacon Chris Mazzacano.
 

The Program

RCIA at Sacred Heart invites each individual to explore beneath the surface of Church teaching in order to discover and appreciate God's will in inviting them to His fold.  Through discussion and reflection, each meeting is designed to enflame the desire to know God and His Church on earth -- specifically, the Church He built on Peter, the Catholic Church.  Through the Socratic method, we journey as a group, aiding our neighbor in his or her formation as well as our own.  
 

 
General Requirements

Catechumens

• Sponsorship of a practicing member of the Catholic faith.
  • If you do not have an individual who can sponsor you, we will provide one for you, to the best of our ability. 
• Weekly class attendance.
• Eventual attendance at Holy Mass as formation progresses
• Complete freedom of the will to receive baptism and initiation into the sacraments of the Church.
• A discerning heart and receptiveness to learning about the faith.  
• Intention of practicing the Catholic faith after sacramental initiation.

Candidates

• Sponsorship of a practicing member of the Catholic faith for the Sacrament of Confirmation
• Weekly class attendance
• Weekly attendance at Holy Mass
• Intention to sincerely practice the faith following reception of the sacraments.
